Winsor Dobbin selects his favourite out-of-town places to relax and splurge on fine food and wine. (July 9th 2006) - "Saltwater on the Beach, Emerald Beach, NSW. "You can't beat the setting of this modern restaurant and cafe 15 minutes north of Coffs Harbour. It's just across the road from a lovely stretch of sand that is popular with surfers and you can watch the waves crashing onto the beach as you enjoy your meal. The fare is relaxed and informal during the day, but ramps up a notch in the evenings. The kitchen serves up dishes in the style of crispy barramundi with a warm green vegetable and prawn salad and sticky peanut sesame syrup or confit duck and crispy pork belly with caramelised kaffir and lemon grass glaze. There's no need to trek back to a hotel after dinner. A private three-bedroom apartment with dramatic ocean views is right upstairs."
